RAPID CITY – Excitement rippled through the quiet streets of Rapid City, South Dakota over the weekend, but what began as a promising sighting quickly descended into disappointment. The town buzzed with rumors of a possible Dogman appearance, a truly awe-inspiring creature of legend that had captured the imagination of locals and cryptid enthusiasts alike. Reports flooded in of a humanoid canid roaming the area, walking on two legs and striking fear into the hearts of onlookers. One intrepid photographer even managed to capture an image reminiscent of the famous Patterson bigfoot film.
As word spread like wildfire across social media, the town’s Facebook pages lit up with chatter of a Dogman visitation, elevating Rapid City from obscurity to the spotlight of cryptid lore. Residents basked in the newfound attention, proud to have been chosen as the setting for such a momentous event. Yet, skepticism soon crept in, casting a shadow over the once jubilant atmosphere.
Mark Plenty, an amateur cryptozoologist with a penchant for all things Dogman, was among the first to voice doubts. “At first, I was thrilled at the prospect of encountering the legendary creature,” he admitted, “but upon closer inspection, it became clear that this was not the awe-inspiring cryptid we had hoped for. It was just some new coyote dude. Who even cares?”
Indeed, the purported cryptid was a far cry from the majestic Dogman of lore. Standing at a modest four feet, the creature lacked the imposing stature and jet-black fur that defined its legendary counterpart. Instead, it resembled a common coyote, its brown and gray fur blending into the background as it meandered through a local playground.

Far from striking fear into the hearts of children, the creature elicited little more than mild curiosity from the youngsters, who quickly lost interest upon learning of its mundane origins. Parents, more embarrassed than alarmed, attempted to shoo away the unwelcome visitor, prompting laughter and mockery from bystanders.
According to eyewitness John Russell, a trucker passing through the area, the creature’s misadventures culminated in a bizarre encounter on the interstate. “It was just standing there, almost like it wanted to get hit,” he recalled. “I swerved to avoid it and ended up hitting a deer instead. That coyote should take the hint and disappear.”
As the dust settles on Rapid City’s brush with the supernatural, one thing remains clear: the legend of the Dogman endures. Though Coyoteboy may have failed to capture the hearts of locals and enthusiasts alike, the search for the elusive cryptid continues unabated. After all, in a world filled with mysteries and wonders, who’s to say what other creatures may be lurking just beyond the horizon?
